Gracia confident someone will step up if Doucoure leaves for PSG

Watford head coach Javi Gracia is hopeful another player will step up if Abdoulaye Doucoure leaves for Paris Saint-Germain.

Doucoure signed for Watford in January 2016, playing the first few months on loan at Granada in LaLiga before heading to England ahead of the 2016-17 campaign.

His first season passed without much fanfare, but in 2017-18 the Frenchman really caught the eye, impressing with his all-action, box-to-box displays in midfield and scoring seven goals from 37 Premier League starts.

He has continued to look the part for Watford this term and emerged as a reported target for PSG, who are eager for midfield reinforcements due to the potential imminent retirement of Lassana Diarra and Adrien Rabiot seemingly on his way out.

Doucoure acknowledge…

Super sub Harvey Barnes heralded by Newcastle boss Eddie Howe

Eddie Howe praised saviour Harvey Barnes after he came off the bench to drag Newcastle from the jaws of defeat to a remarkable Premier League victory over West Ham.

The Magpies were trailing 3-1 at St James’ Park when £38million summer signing Barnes was introduced as a 67th-minute replacement for injured substitute Miguel Almiron and 23 madcap minutes later, he scored the second of two goals to secure a stunning 4-3 win.

Head coach Howe said: “Harvey deserves that. The thing with Harvey is that he’s a goalscorer. He does score goals. You look at his statistics and his record, and it’s incredible really for a wide player.

That winning feeling!

Barcelona to exercise buy-back clause for Alvaro Botia

Barcelona are looking to bring defender Alvaro Botia back to the club, according to Onda Cero.

The highly rated centre-back was sold to Sporting Gijon in the summer of 2009, but not before the Catalans included the €2.5 million buy-back clause in his contract.

The player have since impressed at El Molinon, and he was a key member of Spain side that won Under-21 European Championship in the summer.

His impressive showings in La Liga even earned him a call up to the senior squad for games against Chile and Liechtenstein, although he has yet to make his debut.

Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola is now keen to bring the player back to Camp Nou, so as to improve his defensive options.

In the absence of genuine centre-backs, Javier Mascherano and Sergio Bu…

Herrera wishes Hernandez success at Real

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl Review – Anomaly Sighted

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2’s very existence almost defies logic. Starting with the first efforts to develop the game a decade and a half ago, the project has been cancelled, GSC Game World has been through a closure, the game’s current iteration has seen numerous delays, and more recently, its developer, based in Ukraine, has had to deal with war and Russia’s invasion of its home country. That has brought an entirely new set of complexities of its own, with GSC Game World attempting to somehow figure out how to finish developing a massive AAA game – a dauntingly complex and difficult task as is – under unprecedented and extraordinary circumstances.

They say the fact that any game gets made is nothing short of a miracle even at th…

Martial only ever plays at 85 per cent, says Neville

Manchester United great Gary Neville has accused Anthony Martial of only ever playing at 85 per cent of his ability.

The 21-year-old was the hero for the home side at Old Trafford on Saturday, coming off the bench to score the only goal in the 1-0 win over Tottenham.

Martial enjoyed an explosive first season for United in 2015-16 after signing from Monaco but struggled to convince manager Jose Mourinho to give him a regular starting spot last term.

The forward has enjoyed an encouraging start to the campaign, scoring six times and registering six assists in 14 appearances in all competitions, seven of which have been as a substitute.

Neville thinks Martial has the talent to be tearing this league apart but thinks Mourinho and France head coach Didier Des…

Last man standing: Klopp relying on ´super´ Matip to lead Liverpool defence

Having only just returned from injury himself, Joel Matip has suddenly become pivotal for Liverpool as they prepare for a busy finish to 2020.

Matip is the last experienced centre-back left standing for the reigning Premier League champions, leaving him to take on the role of leader in a defence that has seen a slip in the lofty standards set during the title-winning season.

With Virgil van Dijk – an ever-present in the previous Premier League campaign – already a long-term absentee, Liverpool lost Joe Gomez to a serious injury while away on England duty.

So, ahead of a stamina-sapping run of 11 games prior to the end of the year, Matip goes from supporting act to leading man in a makeshift defence also minus Trent Alexander-Arnold as club football returns fo…
